According to Ngwa Nebasina (1981), Bafut is located between Latitudes 6⁰10'' North of the Equator and Longitudes 10⁰00'' and 10⁰13'' East of the Greenwich Meridian, in the Republic of Cameroon. Administratively, it is a sub-Division within Mezam Division in the NorthWest Region.
